TAB has a 50-year history of innovation in records management and filing products in Canada. Our roots are grounded in the development of a colour coding filing system pioneered by Datafile Canada in the late 1960s. By the 1970s, Datafile was the leading filing system in Canada.
In 1992, TAB purchased Datafile and brought Datafile’s Canadian and Australian operations into the fold. TAB also acquired the exclusive Canadian distribution rights for an electronic media storage equipment product line, called Wright Line.
Who We’ve Helped
TAB has provided records management solutions, as well as filing systems and filing products, for clients in the legal, medical, pharmaceutical, banking and energy industries in major Canadian cities from Montreal, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.
Focus on Innovation
Since becoming a private company in 2002, TAB has significantly increased its investment in innovation and improvement of its filing systems. For example, new equipment and equipment upgrades now allow TAB to produce 30,000 file folders in one day.
To serve customers better, we now manufacture products in-house, resulting in a two week turn around time for customer products. Even the manufacture of various paper products has been brought in-house. All this has allowed TAB to better control the quality and workmanship of its products.
Also among our innovations are our expert outsourced records management services for energy companies through our Calgary Records Centre.
In addition to renewed product innovation, TAB has enhanced its position in file system design, records management programmes, consulting and outsourcing services.
TAB Consulting provides a complete management framework to facilitate the organization, accessibility and management of information, whether the records are paper or electronic. Working in a long-term partnership with customers, TAB finds better ways to managing critical information through storage methods and space utilization, compliance with regulatory requirements, and training employees on policies and procedures for records and information management.
